The trailer for Top Gun: Maverick has now been released by Paramount Pictures. The movie will follow Capt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, who is played by Tom Cruise, as he returns 34 years after the original Top Gun had debuted in the year, 1986. According to the movie’s synopsis,
“Top Gun: Maverick takes place 34 years after the events of the original film and pits legendary Captain Peter “Maverick” Mitchell as the new flight instructor of Top Gun, in which he guides Bradley, Goose’s son, who seeks to become a pilot much as his father was.”
This cast includes Bradley, plus Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller as Goose’s son, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris and Lewis Pullman. Val Kilmer has been expected to reprise his role as Lt. Tom “Iceman” Kazansky. This movie will be directed by Joseph Kosinski.
Connelly, who plays the role of Maverick’s love interest, has said that all the fans would find this sequel worth the 30-year wait.
“I’m so excited about it! I’m making it, and I go to work, and I’m like, ‘This is great,’” she had said.
“It was wonderful, and it was reassuring because I felt like, ‘Oh yeah, this is gonna work, because, the way they’re approaching it, the way they’re talking about it, the way they’re shooting it, it made me happy and I think it’ll make fans happy. It really feels… I really believe in the direction they’re taking it… It’s been really fun. [Tom is] so passionate about what he’s doing. He’s so committed. He’s so dedicated. I have so much respect for that. It’s really been a privilege.”
The filming for Top Gun: Maverick had started in the year, 2018 and also continued into 2019. This movie had been the first to debut in the year, 2019, and Paramount had pushed this release back a year. The very first trailer and the poster for the movie had debuted during a2019’s San Diego Comic-Con.
In spite of the mixed reception, Top Gun had become a huge success. The movie had earned in $356 million and had a budget of $15 million.
