This is one battle that we probably won’t get to see on the big screen since Odin is dead, and Thanos has already wiped out half the universe, but if we were to imagine who would be the ultimate winner in a catastrophic battle, then the answer would be quite tricky. Here’s an analysis of the powers of Thanos and Odin in order to determine who would be victorious in a duel.
The Mad Titan
Thanos is the biggest villain the Avengers have ever had to face. He becomes invincible thanks to obtaining all 6 Infinity Gems and wipes out the entire universe with just a snap of his fingers.
He is known as the Mad Titan and is a very powerful cosmic warlord. He commands two massive armies known as the Chitauri and the Outriders, along with his very evil Black Order. The members of The Black Order are Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw, Cull Obsidian and Corvus Glaive. He is also the adoptive father of Nebula and Gamora.
Odin has 3 children; Thor, Loki and Hela – The Goddess of Death. Hela was Odin’s firstborn, and after that came Thor, and his adopted brother Loki. Odin became the King of Asgard, and grew even more powerful since his Godly powers were joined by the powers of his brothers after they died.
Odin has fought the Celestials, defeated Surtur, the Fire God and has established peace throughout the 9 realms. He is extremely powerful as the King of Norse Gods and possesses vast strength, stamina and durability far greater than a normal Asgardian. Odin possesses all the abilities of his sons and Daughter, but the extent of his power is far greater than what they possess.
He can manipulate what is known as an extremely powerful energy source called ‘The Odin Force’. This force allows a number of powers to be granted to Odin like illusions, force fields, levitation, energy projection, molecular manipulation, telepathy, hypnotism, channelling Thunder and teleportation, stopping time, and it makes Odin as powerful enough to go toe to toe against the likes of Galactus.
Thanos vs Odin
Odin’s portrayal in the MCU was rather disappointing as they cast a great actor but portrayed the character in his very old age for all three movies. Viewers who are not familiar with the comics would have a limited idea as to how powerful Odin actually is. Thanos on the other hand has already displayed how powerful he actually is in the MCU and so is very well known to the non-comic readers. If a battle between the two were to ever take place, the collateral damage caused could affect the entire Marvel Universe itself.
Odin is actually much stronger than Thanos as he possesses the Odin Force which allows him to accomplish unimaginable feats, but Thanos is powerful only when using the Infinity Gauntlet completely studded with all 6 infinity stones which grant him the powers of Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality and Power. So, Odin would actually be able to win if he is able to prevent Thanos from using his Infinity Gauntlet, otherwise, it would be a close tie.
