Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the ultimate nineties children’s cartoon. It had everything we loved: mutated superhero turtles, pizza, and cool dialogues. The Ninja Turtles represent everything that made pop culture stand out.
Because they were so popular in the 90’s, many knock-offs and copycats of the cartoon were made although they were never as big a hit as the original ninja turtles.
Nevertheless, here are the 13 shows that were blatant rip-offs of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

13. SAMURAI PIZZA CATS

The Japanese anime show was a standard series about anthropomorphic ninja cats filled with quirky quips, puns, and plenty of references to pizza.

12. EXTREME DINOSAURS

Extreme Dinosaurs was another knock-off of Ninja Turtles.
Their series debuted in 1997 and lasted for fifty-two episodes in a one season.

11. STREET SHARKS

Of all the Ninja Turtles knock-offs, Street Sharks comes close to its original. The protagonists are a group of mutated sharks, who fought crime. The series enjoyed a lengthy run of forty episodes over three years.

10. AVENGER PENGUINS

Avenger Penguins was a show which was a parody and tribute to the Ninja Turtles.

9. BIKER MICE FROM MARS

Biker Mice from Mars was a show which landed in 1993 and which added the American concept of a biker gang.

8. WILD WEST C.O.W. – BOYS OF MOO MESA

This series about mutated cows who are also cowboys ran for two seasons containing thirteen episodes each.

7. STONE PROTECTORS

The Stone Protectors cartoon series lasted for thirteen episodes.

6. MIGHTY DUCKS: THE ANIMATED SERIES

In the early ’90s, Disney managed to make a Mighty Ducks cartoon which lasted for a single season.

5. BUCKY O’HARE AND THE TOAD WARS

Bucky O’Hare copied the flashy intro and a whole host of alien animals which resembled the TMNT characters.

4. MUMMIES ALIVE!

Debuting in 1997, the show was canceled after forty two episodes after kids lost interest in mutant heroes.

Road Rovers followed the adventures of a group of dogs who’ve been mutated by a scientific experiment.

The Battletoads game focuses on three teenagers who can transform into toads with superhuman powers. Their names were Rash, Pimple, and Zitz.
