Sonic The Hedgehog Continues To Rule The Box Office

Sonic the hedgehog continues to demolish everyone on the box office second week in a row. After its stunning opening week performance which set the record for the highest gross for a movie based on video game. Expectations were high for its second week and it did not disappoint at all and emerged victorious again. Though it received a tough competition from Harrison Ford starrer The Call of the wild and competition seemed really close after the numbers of Friday. But Sonic inched past it with $26.3 million, bringing its total to $106.6 million. Both the movies make the use of CGI and have been given fresh rating on Rotten tomatoes.

The movie stars Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog and Jim Carrey as Doctor Robotnik, as well as James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, and Neal McDonough.

The movie has been widely appreciated because of Jim Carrey’s performance and devotion to the original material. The fact that the movie put into consideration the desires of the fans and changed the animation of the main character also worked wonders for the movie.

The film has grossed $203 million worldwide. It has also become the fifth highest grossing movie of 2020 by achieving over $100 million in the domestic market in just two weeks.
