Revivals, Reboots and Sequels have become the norm of the decade. We have had many of these in the last few years. And surprisingly most of them were successful. Anything which ever had an unfortunate ending now has a time to get it correct or if the creator wants to continue it they can do that too. Case in point being Arrested Development, Gossip Girl and Roseanne.
One of the most highly anticipated sequels in development is Matrix. The franchise supposedly ended with a trilogy in 2003. The trilogy ended with Neo’s sacrifice and the rebooting of Matrix or so we thought.
As per the announcement on August 2019 made by Warner Bros. Matrix will indeed extend beyond the aforementioned trilogy, and get a fourth movie. This movie will have Lana Wachowski as a co-writer, producer and director. The movie will be made in a collaboration with Village Roadshows Pictures.
Both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, whose characters Neo and Trinity seemingly died at the end of the trilogy are set to return. Along with them the movie will have Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Jada Pinkett Smith,Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, and Eréndira Ibarra in starring roles.
Lambert Wilson and Jada Pinkett Smith will return to the franchise in their iconic roles, The Merovingian and Niobe respectively.
Unfortunately Hugo Weaving will not be reprising his role as Agent Smith because of Scheduling Conflicts.
Now another huge name has been added to this growing list, Priyanka Chopra Jonas. She has reportedly entered negotiations to play an important role in the fourth entry of this franchise. She has begun the physical training for her role. She has quite an experience in this genre having appeared in such movie in her homeland India.
The actress is currently on a high curve of her career. She wrapped up Quantico last year and was announced to star with Richard Madden in an upcoming movie.
