Nicolas Cage is going to voice Spider-Man Noir, who happens to be among the various Spider characters that will be seen in the movie as revealed online by a list of Funko products for the film. He joins Liev Schreiber, Jake Johnson, Mahershala Ali, Shameik Moore, and HalieeSteinfeld. Cage has been a part of comic book movies in the past and also tried playing a live-action Superman once. He played the role of Ghost Rider in Sony’s film based on the Marvel hero and has also voiced Superman in the upcoming movie Teen Titans Go To The Movies.
The upcoming film revolves around Miles Morales as he discovers the extent of his powers and the responsibilities among a chaotic New York City. He would soon find out that he was not the lone Spider in town. The initial trailer, as can be seen above, highlights the movie’s fun tone as the character is mentored by Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen.
“We are so excited about this movie, we’re so proud of it,” the Into The Spider-Verse screenwriter, Phil Lord, said during Sony’s CinemaCon panel. “We’re thrilled to help bring the story of Miles Morales to the screen. His story is a sensation in the comics, we loved it there, and we were so inspired to try to find a way to tell his story visually that would be commensurate with that.”
“It’s his Brooklyn upbringing, it’s his culture,” producer Chris Miller added. “He’s half-Puerto Rican, half-African-American, he’s a product of a happy and alive family, he’s 13-years-old. All that tells the kind of hero he’s going to become, and we’re going to get to experience the Spider-Man legend through this new and exciting lens.”
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be out in theaters on December 14th.
