After Arrowverse is there really a question whether Crossovers are successful or not. Avengers has created a billion dollar franchise on their mega crossover. This year has also been about comic books Crossovers albeit very weird ones. X men had one with Rick and Morty and Spiderman had one with Dragon Ball Marvel has done it so why should IDW Publishers be left behind. Two of their most famous properties over the years has been Transformers and My little pony. Both of these series’ cannot be more different in terms of their story and theme but their path to fame has been quite similar, they both gained huge popularity in 80s courtesy their animated series and through the years has maintained the popularity through various iterations whether on screen or in print.
Now both of these mega popular properties are coming together for a four week crossover that will literally see the best of both worlds in comics. The news came straight from the horse’s mouth as it was announced on the Twitter handle of IDW Publishers. This project was in pipeline for many years and is finally getting the light of the day when the creatives after so many years ultimately got a way to get both of these universes together. The issue will come out in May.
The site describes the story, “In My Little Pony/Transformers, the scheming Queen Chrysalis casts a spell in search of changeling allies, but accidentally interferes with a distant Cybertronian Spacebridge… and brings the Autobots and Deceptions to Equestria! As the dust settles, it’s up to Twilight Sparkle, Optimus Prime, and others to overcome the menace of malevolent magic and machinery!”
The series will have James Asmus, Ian Flynn, and Sam MaggFleas writers and Casey W. Coller, Jack Lawrence, Sara Pitre-Durocher, Priscilla Tramontano, and Tony Fleecs as artists.
