Letitia Wright: Shuri Is An Official Disney Princess

Although she didn’t have much to do in Avengers: Infinity War, she still managed to make an impression and display her genius in front of Bruce Banner. Avengers: Infinity War has altered the future of Wakanda and the whole universe, and Shuri is likely to step up to the throne. When questioned about that, Letitia Wright said that she would do it if the need comes and also discussed the burdens associated with being an official Disney Princess.

Letitia Wright was present at the MCM Comic Con in London during the weekend, and she was asked about the chances of having to fill in for Chadwick Boseman in Avengers 4. She is ready to take up the responsibility and put on the Black Panther suit, but, said so only referring to comics and not to spoil anything. She said, “To be comic book accurate, yes.” While her reply is vague and understandably so, it is quite exciting too.

The details related to Avengers 4 are being fiercely guarded, but, in the comic books, Shuri proceeds to become Black Panther. Further, she has been preparing to do so, all her life, and that was referred to in a funny way in the Ryan Coogler movie when T’Challa asked if there were challengers to the throne, and Shuri raised her hand, before stating that the ceremonies were really long. It was a joke in the movie, but, Shuri might actually be seen as Black Panther in Avengers 4, even if briefly if the film remains comic book accurate.

Letitia Wright came to know sometime back about being an official Disney Princess, and she wondered if she was ready to handle the expectations of being a role model. However, she soon found out that it was actually much more fun. She said, “I was like, what’s this Disney Princess pressure? Do I have to be perfect?” According to her, she has now figured out that it is a great role to have.

“Then I realized that everyone’s just so geeked about having a different kind of female character in the Marvel universe and the Disney universe. And there’s going to be much, much more, I’m not the only Disney Princess to come to the surface and claim that title.”

Letitia Wright also revealed that she felt it an honor to be a Disney Princess. She also said that it is even better because her action figures are not like the usual Disney Princess standards. She said:

“I’m so honored, seriously. I grew up on Disney movies and grew up with the Disney Princesses, and they didn’t really look like me. But now, you can go buy action figures and say this is a Disney Princess… right on!”

MCU is rapidly reshaping the Disney Princess personality with powerful superhero ladies, and Shuri is prominent among them, alongside Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Gamora, Nebula, Mantis, and others.
