Joker had a phenomenal year to say the least. Nobody expected it to do the wonders that it eventually managed to do. Winning awards after awards, a lot of praise came the movie’s way and the fans expected it to take home the Best Film award but Parasite inched out and took the prize. The fans were upset and flocked to Twitter angered about it. But everything was not in vain as Joaquin Phoenix took home the best actor award. He has collected every best actor award till now this year and every speech was more heartfelt than the previous.
But boy we weren’t prepared for it at all. He started off by appreciating his colleagues nominated alongside him and went on to say how much this industry means to him because of the chances and shots it has given him. He talked about the unity this federation shows every single time and how obliged he is because of it.

“I’ve been a scoundrel in my life,” Phoenix continued. “I’ve been cruel at times, hard to work with. Many of you in this room have given me a second chance. “Then he went and shifted gears towards an issue very near and dear to him environmentalism and talked about how selfish man has gotten in his pursuit of supremacy that we as a collective unit are not even above tearing away a calf from its mother and putting her milk in our coffee. But what really broke everyone down was the way he spoke of his brother River another Academy award nominee who died tragically at 17 years old.
“When he was 17, my brother wrote this lyric, ‘Run to the rescue love and peace will follow.’” Is what Joaquin finished with and is the lesson he always aims to impart.
Joker won the Best Actor (Phoenix) and Best Original Score awards at the 92nd Academy Awards.
It was the highest nominated movie of the night.
"When we use love and compassion as our guiding principals, we can create systems of change.
Not when we cancel each other out for past mistakes, but when we guide each other to grow, for redemption, that is the best of humanity.”

Joaquin Phoenix is a living legend. He uses his large platform for the greater good, and to speak up on not only humanitarian issues, but issues regarding all species. He’s a true vegan king, and we should all strive to be like him.

5. DID YOU LISTEN THOUGH
Once y’all oh-so-perfect people stop making fun of how awkward he is, I hope a few of you actually take what Joaquin Phoenix was saying to heart.
