Lucasfilm has come out with a new featurette titled “Becoming Solo” which focuses on the world depicted in its upcoming movie Solo: A Star Wars Story, and where the leading guy fits in the narrative.
Ron Howard has directed Solo, and he starts the video by stating that the movie will show a world that has so far not been seen a lot in the Star Wars: the world where the Empire has absolute control. He observes that it is a struggle to survive for everyone and Han happens to be a rare “free spirit.”
“You end up getting to see how this guy got to be the way he is,” Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo actor), while his co-actor Donald Glover (LandoCalrissian in the movie) further said, “we’re meeting Han right before he becomes the Han that we know.” Lawrence Kasdan has written the story for Solo, and he observed that Solo is the most fascinating character in the entire Star Wars saga, and that’s an element which has been well depicted in the other Star Wars films.
The interviews are also accompanied by some new visuals: Han is seen wearing Imperial armor during a battle on the swamp planet Mimban, where he is flanked by Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) and Val (Thandie Newton from Westworld). There are some extra scenes which we have already seen in previous teasers and trailers. Solo’s first meeting with Chewbacca, the train scene on Vandor and how he managed to grab Millennium Falcon from Lando.
Solo: A Star Wars Story flies into the theaters on May 25.
