Gamora is a fictional comic character from Marvel comics created by Jim Starlin. She is the adopted daughter of Thanos and the last of her species from her planet Badoon, which Thanos destroys before taking her with him. He trains her to become a deadly assassin giving her the name “The Deadliest Woman in the Galaxy”. Her powers include superhuman strength and agility and an accelerated healing factor.
She is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy along with Star Lord, Groot, Racoon, Drax and Mantis. In the film version her love interest is Star Lord otherwise known as Peter Quill.

She was killed by Thanos in Infinity War after being thrown off a cliff on the planet Vormirr as a form of sacrifice on Thanos’s part in order to get the Soul Stone. The sacrifice involved Thanos killing someone he loved dearly in exchange for the Soul Stone. Gamore at first believed his tears were because he would not be able to accomplish this as he loved no one; but it was actually tears for her as he did love his daughter truly and had to sacrifice her in order to achieve his goal
