Fans Galore As Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge To Receive A R Rating

Mortal Kombat fans are over the moon these days. Not only are they getting a reboot of the original moviethat will release on January 2021, they are also getting an animated movie from the franchise titled Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge.

One of the most important themes of Mortal Kombat is its gritty nature and violence and seems like both of the aforementioned entries in the franchise will have the presence of these themes.

Ed Boon on his social media account quipped the fans that all the three movies – Joker Movie, Killing Joke animated film and Mortal Kombat animated filmhave one thing in common and answered it by revealing a poster of the animated movie displaying a R rating.

This R rating which has also been given to the reboot, means a lot to the fans as the reiterations of the game on the screen have not always provided the best results.

Both the original Mortal Kombat movie from 1995 and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation that followed it earned PG-13 ratings with Annihilation released in 1997 being nearly universally panned by both fans and critics.

Boon who is a creative consultant on the animated movie has described it as Brutal. Those who have played Mortal Kombat know how gory it can get so if that can be reflected in these two entries it will be immensely satisfying for the fans.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, will release in the first half of 2020 and the reboot will follow it up in January, 2021. To those who don’t know this is actually a bumped up release date as the movie was previously scheduled to come out on March.

Director Greg Russo has officially become the Godfather of all the video game fans as he is currently involve in three reiterations of movies based on video games- Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat and Bio shock.
