It won’t be wrong to say that Avengers: Infinity War has turned out to be the best and the biggest MCU film so far. The film is a complete deal comprising of emotion, drama, suspense, humor, excitement, sci-fi stuff and action. The film ended on a cliffhanger, and the end was simply jaw-dropping.
Right from the beginning, it was clarified that if Thanos got all the Infinity Stones, he would kill half the universe’s inhabitants in a snap of his fingers. Gamora said it initially and later the same thing was told by Thanos to Doctor Strange.
The main purpose of Thanos was to restore balance to the universe, and he was willing to take extreme steps for that, such as wiping out half of the life in the universe so that the surviving half will have plenty of resources to live a comfortable life.
Avengers: Infinity War had a great climax when Thor came wielding his latest Ax-hammer called Stormbreaker which sliced the Infinity Gauntlet and cut right into Thanos’ heart. Just when Thor felt that he had managed to kill the villain, Thanos says you should have aimed for the head, and he does what everyone was afraid of. He snaps his fingers.
This leads to half of the universe’ population slowly turn to ashes. However, before that, the Infinity Gauntlet was shown to be completely destroyed.
The shiny and mighty object was completely destroyed and useless. The Stones remained safe, but, the Gauntlet was so broken that it seemed unusable ever again. Thanos escaped, and we saw him smile in his own company watching over the universe at sunset hour. He had the sense of accomplishment and knowledge that his life served his goal.
The question is, why did the Gauntlet get destroyed? It was made by Eitri the Dwarf and was capable of withstanding the power of the Infinity Stones, but, the 6 of them coming together proved too much, even for such a Gauntlet. Now that the Gauntlet was destroyed, others are unlikely to be able to repair the damage done by Thanos.
And also Thanos seems to have dispersed the Infinity Stones at various locations, so the Avengers won’t find it easy to come back and beat Thanos after locating all the Infinity Stones.
Assuming if Thanos stayed in possession of the Stones, it would still be a big challenge locating him. Maybe Captain Marvel could be of help here. The one thing that is certain is that the surviving Avengers would avenger their departed fellows. The task though might be a tough one because they have to battle Thanos again to retrieve the Infinity Stones.
However, how will everything be undone? There is no Gauntlet now. Therefore, they might need to again rope in Eitri. It was shown that the mold of the Infinity Gauntlet still existed on Nedaavelir, so Eitri might be able to make another Gauntlet aided by Thor. That might be one more thing that could use the Quantum Realm.
A glimpse at the Avengers 4 set photos indicates that Avengers 4 is going to be big on time travel, so even if the Avengers don’t get hold of the Time Stone, then they might use the Quantum Realm. Hank Pym had stated that Space and Time are not related in the Quantum Realm, so Captain Marvel or Ant-Man might help in accessing it, allowing the Avengers to undo the damage done by Thanos.
Avengers: Infinity War is presently running in theaters and Avengers 4 releases on May 3 next year.
