Disneyreally likes reboots, sequels and franchise it seems. I mean they ordered Lizzie McGuire are going forward with the Aladdin sequel and getting a bunch of Star Wars and Avengers stuff in our way. After announcing the return of an original star in Honey, I shrunk the kids. Disney has managed to reinvigorate another one of their classic series in Mighty Ducks. They will go forward with a sequel of this classic 90s movie. The only casting choice revealed till now was Lauren Graham but now the announcement of Emilio Estevez has literally shaken the fans to the core and made them elated beyond belief.
To those who don’t know Estevez was the part of the original ensemble and played the major role of Coach Bombay who took a team of amateurs and made a team that won at the end. He is going to reprise the same role all these years later but this time against the Quack Pack that he built create.
“It was an easy decision to bring back the Quack Attack with a modern and fresh twist,” said Agnes Chu, senior vice president, Content, Disney+. “For a generation, ‘The Mighty Ducks’ stood for teamwork, friendship, and heart and we’re excited to see the Ducks fly together once again and bring the franchise to new audiences around the world. We are thrilled to have Emilio Estevez reprising his iconic role.”
According to the synopsis after a child Evan gets unceremoniously cut from the Quack Pack. His mother (Graham) set out to create a team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of competitive youth sports. She will get the support of beloved Coach Bombay in it. With the help of the Coach this team will learn to play the game just for the love of the game.
The Mighty Ducks will air its 10 episodes later this year.
Estevez will join Lauren Graham and Brady Noon in leading roles. This series will also feature Swayam Bhatia, TaegenBurns, Julee Cerda, Bella Higginbotham, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Maxwell Simkins and De’Jon Watts.
