Amazon is now betting pretty big on the new Lord of the Rings TV series. This streaming service has added one more addition to their cast and Deadline has reported that Ema Horvath has been added to the cast. This will mark the very first major project for the actress who has starred in Like.Share.Follow. and also, The Gallows Act II.
The production on the Lord of the Rings show will start in New Zealand, and Horvath will join the cast that includes Australian actress Arkella Kavenagh and Will Poulter as Beldor. Joseph Rawle from Game of Thrones is set to play Oren. The writers, Patrick McKay and JD Payne are set to showrun the show with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom filmmaker named, J.A. Bayona director.
All the details of this show are now in flux and have been guarded, but the assumption is that these stories will actually be set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth. Sauron will be a lingering presence and not the main antagonist.
During the Television Critics Association press tour, Amazon had revealed the creative team for The Lord of the Rings TV show. Lindsey Weber, Bruce Richmond, Gene Kelly, Sharon Tal Yguado, Gennifer Hutchison, Jason Cahill, Justin Doble, Bryan Cogman, Stephany Folsom, Ron Ames, Helen Shang and Glenise Mullins are part of the team.
Amazon had announced that the costume designer would be Kate Hawley and Rick Heinrichs. The visual effects supervisor would be Jason Smith, and Tolkien scholar Tom Shippey will be the illustrator.
We have no official premiere date as has been set, but they are aiming for a 2021 debut.
