Dave Bautista says that he will return for Avengers 4 as well as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Bautista was recently interviewed by Collider, and he said that he had to give assurance to friends and fans about Drax’s return, although he is clueless about how that will happen.
“I got a lot of texts saying, ‘I can’t believe you’re dead, your character is dead,'” Bautista said. “They were really like heartbroken, and I was like ‘I’m gonna be in four. I’m gonna be in Guardians 3.’ I don’t know how they’re bringing me back, yeah but somehow I’m going to make it because, as far as I know, I am going to be in Guardians 3, so I have to be back.”
Considering the kind of ‘no spoilers’ secrecy seen with Avengers: Infinity War and now in Avengers 4 as well as other post-Infinity War MCU projects, Bautista might have let out a huge spoiler. Although he had some really funny lines in Avengers: Infinity War, Drax turned into ash like various other popular characters after that Thanos’ finger snap. In fact, the Guardians have been completely wiped out apart from the sole survivor Rocket. Bautista said that his revealing that he would be back is not much of a spoiler because the real deal is to know how that would happen and he has no clue about that.
“That’s the only reason I’m not so concerned about giving any spoilers or giving anything away that Marvel would be mad because I said before, before the film even came out, that I’ve already filmed three and four, so I hope they won’t be p****d!” he said. “And if they are, I’m gonna get an earful. I don’t know how they’re gonna put this all together. I don’t know how it’s gonna pan out and how it’s all going to turn out.”
Bautista might be unaware about the details, but, there are some hints. Recently, a new Avengers 4 synopsis came out in the latest License Global issue, and although it contained most of what we already know, it also revealed that there would be sacrifices to be made by the heroes.
“A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”
Most of the original Avengers actors’ contracts are almost over, and fans feel that the sacrifices might imply that heroes such as Captain America will have to undo things done by Thanos and that’s how the dead characters like Drax would be back.
Avengers: Infinity War is still playing in theaters, and other MCU movies coming up include Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6th, Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019, the fourth Avengers movie on May 3, 2019, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 5, 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020.
