It seems like Disney+ cannot help but stay in news in one form or another. At first they had one of the most in demand shows in the form of The Mandalorian. Then they set to prepare themselves and everyone for the highly anticipated Marvel shows. And if all of this has not been enough they have literally announced a flurry of revivals. Joining the list of revivals is none other than the hit animated show from 2005 The Proud Family.
The Proud Family was one if the most acclaimed animated show during its run and it was really good to see so much of representation on Disney. It was one of the few series during that time l, which was showcasing African American families and was centred around an African American person.
It was sweet, adorable but at the same time very informative. Though there are doubts as to how Disney would handle it. As we have seen in shows like Raven with the kids and Girl meets world, the show stuck in it’s time and did not mature. But quite honestly this animated show has a huge scope to mature and considering the approach that the streaming service took with Lizzie McGuire and Love Simon spinoff we don’t really know how will they handle is facet. There is always a choice, that it could be moved to Hulu, but the promotion it might get as a Disney+ show considering it originated from the channel might get missed.
All we know right now is that the revival will be titled The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. It will feature the return of the original cast and creators.
The show will have Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, Jo Marie Payton as Suga Mama, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer and Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez, and Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby Proud.
