Brad Pitt’s role in Deadpool 2 may be leaked, but Matt Damon’s cameo is one that fans will probably miss. His role in the Deadpool sequel is disguised by prosthetic makeup and a fake belly
The cameo comes as a pleasant surprise after Brad Pitt’s cameo as a member of X-Force was leaked due to the status of the A-List movie star involved. Now, Marvel fans will have to decide which cameo was more incredible: Brad Pitt playing a superhero or getting Matt Damon to explain the REAL way to use the toilet.
Matt Damon won’t be sharing the screen with Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 2, but he interacts with Josh Brolin’s Cable when the future time traveller first arrives in the film.
In the scene, two characters are in deep discussion. One character who is credited as “Redneck #2” is a cameo from Alan Tudyk and his friend giving the lecture on the proper way to use wipes, is Matt Damon wearing a wig, hat, prosthetic makeup and has a fake beer belly.
The cameo was teased by the cast and crew previously, when speaking about some of the secret cameos in store for fans. Apparently, Damon’s “manifesto” about the best way to wipe is by using a mixture of paper, baby wipes, and a blow dryer and comes courtesy of Deadpool 2 writer Rhett Reese:
“I have a toilet paper manifesto of my own, abut the inadequacy of toilet paper. I do this bit about it, and I did it for Ryan. We all looked at each other and said, ‘This has to go into the movie somehow.’ Then we discussed what caliber actor would we need to do such a scene…”
It seems the filmmakers decided to get one of the most famous actors to do the role and called up Matt Damon, and he agreed. Matt Damon already had a hilarious cameo in Thor: Ragnarok.
Zazie Beetz said this cameo was her favourite, by explaining that “he’s not even listed in the credits…They don’t even give his real name and he’s in complete prosthetics.”
The actor is credited as ‘Dickie Greenleaf’, a name Damon fans will recognize as Jude Law’s character in The Talented Mr. Ripley, whose identity Matt Damon’s character steals for himself.
So with a cameo in Ragnarok down, and the chance to be murdered by Cable, fans are wondering what’s next for Matt Damon’s cameo career.
