Captain Marvel has been revolutionary in Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only has she become the first female hero to have her own movie, it also introduced the universe to some very less than stellar aspects. Though everyone celebrated the fact that a female centric movie was coming in MCU, though considering Scarlett Johansson’s contributions to the franchise we should have gotten a movie based on her 5 years ago. Though no complaints at all, as studios are a money making juggernaut which will invest the mullahs only when they are sure it will work. And when a small but very loud group of fans threaten to bombard the movie with bad reviews even before it releases, it is quite natural to have doubts. Well they threatened and they did but it did not have much effect on the movie’s financial performance as it performed an earth shattering business.
But there were issues even after the movie’s release when many fans complained of Brie Larson’s selection as Captain Marvel as they wished to have Monica Rambeau incarnation of Captain Marvel as chronologically she appeared before and the studio’s decision to minimise her character even after that was met with some criticism. People felt uncomfortable that Monica’s character was skipped to give way to Carol Danvers. So much so that a petition was started to get Larson removed from the role.
But the movie earned more than 1 Billion so it was but obvious that it would get a sequel, now it is confirmed as last month it reportedly got into development and with Marvel filing an LLC for “Warbird Productions II”, a LLC is something that is filed before a new project we can expect the sequel to go into works soon. Why, you may ask? Because Warbird was the working title of the first Captain Marvel movie.
For Marvel Captain Marvel is extremely important as Kevin Feige put a lot of work into it and was also quoted saying that she would be a central figure in the future of this universe.
It should come as no surprise, but Marvel filed the LLC “Warbird Productions II” on February 13th, which means Captain Marvel 2 is officially greenlit. pic.twitter.com/PDwczFfFi5

“When we found out that Brie Larson might be interested in joining our world, we had a number of meetings.” Feige said in one of Captain Marvel’s tie-in specials. “She was a huge fan of the character in the comics. One of the highlights of my career at Marvel was introducing her at Comic-Con and having her come out on stage and stand there with literally almost everybody else from our movies. There she was at the forefront, and it was a great foreshadowing – not just for how audiences are going to embrace Brie as this character, but also for how Captain Marvel is about to take the lead and be at the forefront of the entire Cinematic Universe.”
