One of the DC fans had suggested that the actor from Evil Dead, Bruce Campbell seems to have the physical resemblance to the Superman from Kingdom Come. The fans had then added that it would be fun to see him take up this role. Campbell, after seeing this, had responded that he was surely game for this. He had then added that he was “ready for Geezer Superman,” and also shared an image of himself with a grey beard with the original tweet of an ageing Superman from Mark Waid and Alex Ross’ DC Comics epic. In this story, the after Lois Lane had died, the event pushed Superman to retire, and he had fled to the Fortress of Solitude. However, many years later, he had returned and tackled a whole new generation of challenges.
The very idea that Campbell is open to playing a version of the Man of Steel is a change in perspective for the actor, who had once said that he would not be down to playing the role of a superhero because he did not like the very idea of performing in an environment of digital effects.
“I don’t like characters that are too perfect. What are you going to do with them? That’s my only problem with some superheroes is that they’re too perfect,” Campbell had said once.
As of now, DC does not have any plans for Superman in the films, but the character might get his very own TV series with his wife, Lois Lane.
The pilot will be filming by spring, and will spin out of the events of the upcoming “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event and this will start by Sunday on The CW. This event will show the fans the live-action debut of the Kingdom Come Superman who will be played by Brandon Routh.
Routh is set to be one of the Supermen with the others being Smallville’s Clark Kent played by Tom Wellin and also the Hoechlin version of the character.
