While we eagerly wait for Carol Danvers to land on the big screen, the movie’s star Brie Larson has confirmed that her character is going to be the strongest hero in the MCU.
Since we saw Thanos throw a moon around in Avengers: Infinity War, the statement by Brie Larson is really significant.
After having missed out on Avengers: Infinity War, Carol will debut in Captain Marvel next year, a movie from Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck which is going to be her origin story and will place her properly in time for Avengers 4.
Larson was talking to E! Live from the Red Carpet, and she said, “She’s so strong. She can move planets!” It is not as if we have had any doubts about the powers of Captain Marvel, but, the Oscar-winning actress clarified that her powers might help her turn it into her acting. “So, to me, it’s like how far can I go with this strength?”
Kevin Feige had stated back in 2016 itself that Captain Marvel is going to be the mightiest MCU character until now. “Her powers are off the charts, and when she’s introduced, she will be by far the strongest character we’ve ever had,” he said. “It’s important, then, to counterbalance that with someone who feels real. She needs to have a humanity to tap into, and Brie can do that.”
Since Feige has also recently said that she is going to be “the new face of the MCU,” her enhanced power will certainly be useful during her run as Captain Marvel.
During the last ten years, Marvel films have already witnessed incredible strength from Hulk, Thor, and Thanos, but, they must now be wary of Captain Marvel as she is going to usher in a female-dominated MCU Phase 4. Thanos had to resort to the Infinity Stones to grab the moon, but, Captain Marvel’s powers are her own. However, we are not sure whether we will actually see Carol Danvers move planets on the big screen next year or not.
Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck on a script which they wrote jointly with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. The film stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, DjimonHounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, and Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Algenis Perez Soto, McKenna Grace and Annette Bening in presently undisclosed roles.
Captain Marvel releases on March 8, 2019.
