Billie Eilish Fans Defend After Holiday Swimsuit Photos

The internet broke after Billie Eilish posted vacation pictures on her social media. Her fans were quick to jump to defend her for doing a completely normal and tenager-like thing.

The singer spent a dream-like vacation in Hawaii and posted couple of photos over the weekend. She can be seen out under the sun in a swimsuit, canoeing, swimming and riding a zipwire. The internet, as terrible as it is, did its best to ignore the pretty picturesque views and zen-like aesthetics of the vacation. Rather, it was more focused on the 18-year old singer, in a bikini.

Many netizens attacked the singer for wearing a swimsuit, while being at the beach and at the normal age of 18. We do agree that it is quite difficult to understand netizen logic. They were eager to have their views known at this opportunity. Even though she just crossed 18, the singer was wrongly sexualised and objectified.

One of her fans held her back and wrote: “I really wish people would stop sexualizing @billieeilish. I get it, she’s 18 now. But she didn’t want you looking at her body before and I’m damn sure she still doesn’t want you to. F**king perverts.”

Another tweet read: “Actually disgusting that @billieeilish can’t post holiday pics of her and her pal having a good time without the pervs surfacing…” wrote another.

Someone also joked: “Are u 10 years old [and it’s your] first time seeing a women.” Another warned: “I better not see y’all perverts saying stuff about her body”.

The outbreak is especially disturbing when put into context with a Calvin Klein project she did last year. Billie reasoned that her style was an attempt to hide her body from the public eye. “I never want the world to know everything about me. I mean, that’s why I wear big baggy clothes.”

“Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath. You know? Nobody can be like ‘oh, she’s slim thick. She’s not slim thick. She got a flat ass. She’s got a fat ass.’ No one can say any of that because they don’t know.”

It is a real shame that people see a woman in the industry just for their physical attributes and not for her talent.  Even at a young age of eighteen, Eilish was nominated for Grammy awards in the most notable categories of record, album, best new artist and song of the year.
