Avengers: Infinity War continued its global box office domination this weekend, and earned $349 million all over the world, taking its overall total to $1.607 billion. That makes it the fifth-highest grossing film ever, overtaking Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Black Panther, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Fast and Furious 7, and even the previous monarch of superhero box office stories: Marvel’s The Avengers.
The mega weekend of Avengers: Infinity War is primarily courtesy a blockbuster opening in China where the film has earned $200 million in the first weekend.
On the domestic box office, Avengers: Infinity War had shattered all the records of the opening weekend by earning $257.6 million. The film made $112.5 million on the second weekend at the domestic box office, which is the second best and trailing only Star Wars: The Force Awakens $149 million. The film is expected to earn a further $60 million on the third weekend.
Avengers: Infinity War is the fastest film ever to cross $1billion at the box office, and it is the 6th Marvel Studios film to go past the $ billion mark.
The film even shattered the record for best opening in Russia.
Marvel Studios is having a fantastic 2018 at the box office. Black Panther exceeded everybody’s expectations in February and now Avengers: Infinity War has become a much bigger hit.
