Kevin Feige, President, Marvel Studios says that the reason why this title hasn’t been disclosed is that it would be a spoiler for what happens in the Avengers: Infinity War. Now the movie’s directors Anthony and Joe Russo have further ignited that controversy by saying fans must be afraid of the title because of the meaning it has for Avengers: Infinity War.
A Twitter user @occmarvel expressed fear that the Russos won’t disclose Avengers 4’s title because of the implication it might have for Avengers: Infinity War. This is what the directors said in response.
“The fact that the Russo Brothers won’t give us the Avengers 4 title because it spoils Infinity War scares the shit outta me,” @occmarvel says.
The Russos replied: “It should.”
The definitive period at the end of the reply sounds ominous.
Two years ago, Marvel was planning to release Avengers: Infinity War in two parts, but, Joe Russo said that “The movies are two very different movies,” and according to Anthony the title Infinity War – Part II was inaccurate, so they chose to change it. The thing is the changed title is probably a spoiler.
We wonder what could be the name of the Avengers 4?
It might be Avengers: Disassembled, based on a comic book crossover event from the mid-2000s. The title is apt for the situation that the Avengers found themselves in after Captain America: Civil War.
It could also be Avengers: Shattered Heroes which is the title of another Marvel event from 2011, and it is self-explanatory.
We also thought of some other possible titles just in case the directors are looking around for some options:
Avengers: Reign of Thanos
Avengers: Death of the Avengers
Avengers: Wipe Out
Avengers: Gauntlet Is Back.
Avengers: Mad Titan Down.
Avengers: The Final Battle
