Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy had been distracted with his video game for the most part of Avengers: Infinity War. But when he did decide to be helpful, he really was super helpful and aided Thor in making his new weapon, the Stormbreaker.
Groot had been alongside Thor and Rocket when the weapon was being created. The blade was complete, but the mold had fallen before the handle was made and so, to save Thor, Groot used his limbs and formed a handle and created the weapon.
By the end of the movie, Groot was wiped out from existence due to Thanos’ snap and unlike the other heroes, not all of Groot had faded from existence, and the part of the Stormbreaker’s handle still exists.
“I don’t know if every piece of him that detaches … can grow a future version of him, but who’s to say? That’s an interesting question,” Russo had said.
He did not confirm that it will happen, but he did not deny it either. Groot had sacrificed himself to save all the other Guardians in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and since Rocket Raccoon had saved a piece of him, he planted it in a pot and Groot was reborn.
This could happen all over again.
