Avengers: Infinity War released last week, and the movie has almost destroyed all the movies that released before it. The film has a hight 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and its wonderful opening of over $650 Million has been nothing short of a miracle. The film was the supreme thriller that nobody could have seen coming irrespective of what all you knew about the film. Even if you can’t call it the best Marvel Cinematic Universe film of all time, then it still has to be one of the best.
The director duo has done a great job with the film because they could have been the only people who could have successfully managed a mega-crossover event movie like this. There were nearly 70 characters known to viewers that featured in this film, all of them portrayed by famous Hollywood talent, introducing their own narratives. The Russos had to factor in links from the 18 films that released before this event and it is doubtless that they have done an absolutely great job with the movie.
This was the first real appearance of Thanos on the big screen. He turned out to be unlike the other MCU Villains who generally appear to be weak and lacking in speed. Thanos arrived and displayed his domination, violence, and purpose right from the film’s start, and he did what everyone was afraid he would do. His finger snap resulted in the disintegration of half of all living beings in the whole universe.
Although the ending would have been different if a couple of things that took place in the movie had happened differently, but, this is a film, and the story could not have progressed without those things. Yes, we are talking about the fact that Star-Lord lost his head and the fact that Loki stole the Tesseract while fleeing from Asgard. If only those two guys didn’t indulge in their antics, things would have been different, but, the one Superhero who was really capable of saving them all was Ant-Man.
Avengers: Infinity War didn’t feature Hawkeye, Ant-Man and The Wasp, but, had the Ant-Man been there, the outcome would have been very different. A new Fan edited video has shown the Avengers would have beaten Thanos easily if he was a part of the battle. Thanos succeeded only because he didn’t face Ant-Man.
The thing is, it would have been an incredibly funny way for the Avengers to defeat Thanos. According to Christopher Markus, the co-writer of the movie, this is why Ant-Man wasn’t a part of the film:
“Ant-Man the franchise is very light-hearted. It’s fun. It may be even skews younger. If we were to put Ant-Man in this extremely heavy movie, and then have to say to the guys who are making the Ant-Man movie, ‘Yeah, he went through hell, but now go ahead and have your little romp and we’ll pick it up afterwards,’ that’s why we have to really sort of manage your interconnections and go, ‘Let’s go and hold off so you can enjoy that without feeling a bad taste in your mouth.’”
His co-writer, Stephen McFeely added:
“Put yourself in our positions two years ago. We’re looking at a blank wall, and it says Avengers 3, Ant-Man and [the] Wasp, Captain Marvel, Avengers 4. So there are four big shoeboxes, and we’re responsible for the bookends. As we’re going through deciding what we want to do, we have these two shoeboxes in the middle that you can either look at as burdens or opportunities.”
Avengers: Infinity War is now running in the theatres. You can check the official Synopsis of the film:
“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.
