We all know that there is a Game of Thrones shaped hole in the fandom. There was never a fantasy series like this before nor will there be afterwards. More so the entire fandom is also upset by the ending of the aforementioned series.
The ending promised to break our hearts and take us by surprise. It not only delivered on that promise but took it two steps further and in the opinion of some fans destroyed the very foundation on which the show and the universe was built.

The whole shows’ premise was set up to find a worthy king for all of Westeros. The whole show revolved around the dire need of a good ruler. The ruler who has benevolence, kindness and bravery all moulded into one person. Something which Cersei, Joffrey, Tommen Baratheon and Aerys Targaryen lacked.
And somehow the writers thought Bran was the one fit to take the throne at the end. Not that Bran was not a good character, but he was not spectacular. He spent the entirety of his storyline going to the Three Eyed Raven and then discarding everyone who helped him. He showed absolutely no remorse for Hodor. The point of the matter is that Bran didn’t give the emotional fulfilment expected of a person gaining the seat after an eight season long saga.
It is very obvious that the books, the profit generating property it is, will not repeat this poorly received ending.

To those who don’t know, Game of Thronesis an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels. Following every fans dream, the show was pretty faithful to the novels but ultimately moved ahead it.
George RR Martin is still to release the last two books of the series titled, The Winds Of Winter and A Dream of Spring. He has made it clear that the ending of the book will be different from that of the show, giving fans hope as well as incentive to invest in the book.
Though it is believed that Martin is done with the TWOW, as he gave a deadline of summer 2020 to his fans. It seems to not really be the truth as even after the first month there is no news regarding publication.
But if this delay means a ‘satisfying’ ending at least as much we can get in the GOT universe, the fans can handle the wait.
