The Hollywood Reporter claims that Paramount has chosen to make a Snake Eyes-centric solo film. The studio is presently discussing with Evan Spilliotopoulos (the writer of Beauty and the Beast, and The Huntsman: Winter’s War, to write the script for the film. Earlier in the week, Spiliotopoulos was also assigned the writing duties for the Bright sequel for Netflix and David Ayer.
It has also been reported that Brian Goldner is among the producers of this film.
The solo movie will be the third live-action G.I. Joe film in the last one decade. Paramount made the G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra in 2009, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation in 2013. Both films were disliked by critics and also didn’t do well at the box office.
However, both movies featured Snake Eyes who was played by Ray Park. The actor is famous for his portrayal of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and Toad in X-Men.
While Snake Eyes has never been heard or seen revealing his face, he is by far one of the most iconic G.I. Joecharacters. His story involves his relationship with Scarlett, his enmity with brother-turned-killer Storm Shadow and his adventures where he is accompanied by his pet wolf, Timber.
