New Netflix Originals to add to your must-watch list:

Have a look at these highly rated movies and series premieres from May while you wait for your favorite show or film to land on Netflix in June.

Expert advice from Carol Burnett:

Winner of five Golden Globes and six Emmys, Carol Burnett from The Carol Burnett Show is going to host her own iconic Netflix original series at a ripe young age of 85.

Her show ‘A Little Help With Carol Burnett’ would feature Burnett and a celebrity guest who ask questions from a panel of 5 to 9 yo kids about some problem they are facing. The extreme age contrasts are likely to make for a fascinating viewing, right?

Available May 4.

‘MY NEXT GUEST NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION WITH DAVID LETTERMAN’:

David Letterman will be joined by the genius comedic talent Tina Fey in the May edition of My Next Guest.

The show imitates a standard late-night show format,  but, here the new episodes are released on a monthly basis. Previously, Letterman’s list of hosts has included Jay-Z, President  Barack Obama, George Clooney and Malala Yousafzai, with Howard Stern coming up soon.

Available May 4.

‘DEAR WHITE PEOPLE’ VOLUME 2:

Ranked among the best shows of last year, the volume 2 is going to be equally fantastic. Series’ maker Justin Simien merges satire with pleasing, stylized visual communication to tackle heavy racial topics and remove the façade that claims the existence of a post-racial America.

Available May 4.

‘UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT’ SEASON 4:

Barring a scenario where you got trapped in the underground bunker with Jon Hamm for over four years (which might not be such a bad idea at all), you would certainly have heard the praise of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. This Emmy-nominated funny series from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock is based on Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) and her sudden introduction to contemporary American culture after having been confined to a bunker for 15 years.

Season 4 starts with Kimmy employed at a start-up and Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) working as a new agent. However, Titus (Tituss Burgess) is determined to win back his ex-boyfriend.

Earlier this month, it was announced by Netflix that this is going to be Kimmy’s last season, but, show executives are working out to ensure that the series wraps up in the grandest possible way – with a film. The initial six Season Four episodes will be out on May 30 (Is there a call for Emmy?) and the remainder of the season will be out in late 2018.

‘THE RAIN’ SEASON 2:

This is the first Danish original series on Netflix, based six years into the future after a rain carries a deadly virus which wipes out life from Scandinavia. A couple of siblings come out of their underground shelter and find out that the whole civilization has been extinguished, barring a few survivors that is.

Majority of the survivors are young, and it gives the show a coming-of-age theme. Love, jealousy and past hauntings of the regular kind impact the survivors as they endeavor to create a better world.

Available May 4.
