Contrary to the expectations, no new Mortal Kombatgame was announced during E3, but, that didn’t prevent BossLogicfrom adding fuel to the fire of the Mortal Kombat buzz. Go ahead and have a look at his fantastic new artwork featuring Spawn and Mortal Kombat: Legacy star Michael Jai White as Jax:

According to BossLogic, he might even create a complete character select screen, which certainly would be something we would love to see. Taking into account the fact that he is conceptualizing a “reboot,” we wonder who all would be featured and who would get ignored, from the list. While characters like Cyrax, Noob Saibot, Kung Lao and Quan Chi might get kicked out, it is obvious that the series regulars like Liu Kang, Raiden, Sub-Zero, and Kitana and others would be featured.

Undoubtedly, this image would unleash a revived buzz which was encouraged by Ed Boon, and it made fans speculate an imminent announcement of Mortal Kombat 11. In May, Boon had responded to a tweet regarding further Injustice 2 content, and courtesy of some weird spelling, everyone thought that he was suggesting something.

The fact is, if you have been a long-time follower of Ed Boon (for any duration that is), you would be aware of the fact that whatever Boon does or says is never absolutely trustworthy. Those who follow him always derive their own meanings of what he says, and it is considered to be a massive game or DLC revelation. Boon himself is quite aware of this truth, and though he can’t be classified as a troll, he is partially a troll for sure.

The undeniable fact is, Injustice 2 has already got all the additional content which was initially promised after its extremely successful launch, and NetherRealm Studios is a superb developer that might be working on the next mega project. The studio is renowned for Mortal Kombat and three years have gone by since Mortal Kombat X came out.

So, the time has come.
