There was a time during the mid-1980s when He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was by far the biggest multi-media property in the world. When Cannon Films decided to showcase its might on the blockbuster movie platform, producers went to great lengths to get hold of the most coveted licenses of that time. One such license was the Spider-Man from Marvel Comics. This will give you a clearer idea of the stature since despite having bought Spider-Man’s rights, they went on and paid a lot more money to acquire the rights to He-Man. That is the kind of stature He-Man had back in the 1980s. In fact, He-Man was popular in various countries all over the world. However, as things generally happen, everything that goes up has to come down, and by the time the world moved into the 1990s, He-Man had lost its luck. The hit Filmation show was over, and despite Mattel trying to revive it in New Adventures of He-Man in 1990, nothing worked out. For over a decade, the toy line wasn’t even tried again.

Due to the fact that the relaunch didn’t work out, there were several toys which never got produced. The long-term He-Man concept artist, Error McCarthy created a lot of designs for wonderful toys which never got produced. There is a collection of McCarthy’s concept designs on He-Man.org featuring the He-Man toys that were not produced and also some failed concepts. We have merged this with a few other never produced toys to create this compilation of 15 He-Man toys that we wished were real and one that thankfully never saw the light of the day. Check these out below!
