Dave Bautista In The Running To Play Lead Role In Gears Of War Film

However, there is one role that Bautista is after and that is Marcus Fenix in the Gears of War movie. He revealed this in response to a fan question on Twitter, during a recent Gamespotinterview.

Bautista attended an open Q & A with Gamespot, where a fan asked him, “I’ve enjoyed basically all the film’s you’ve been in and was a huge fan during your WWE run. What’s your dream role? I’m hoping they ask you to play Marcus Fenix in the Gears of War movie! #AskDave”

Bautista replied, “I’ve been pursuing Gears of War for YEARS now. I believe it’s in the hands of Universal Studios. And I’ve been knocking on their door and badgering them and they are so sick of me (laughs), phoning in and asking them where they are with that project. But, yes, Marcus Fenix is absolutely a dream role for me. I want that role. So, if you can start a petition…”

There is no doubt that Bautista would make a great fit for the character, but, Universal Studios hasn’t yet started talking about casting.

The movie version of the hit Microsoft series was announced in 2016 after a partnership between Microsoft and Universal saw Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark joining in as producers. Back then, Rod Fergusson, studio head, development group at The Coalition (the team that created Gears of War 4) informed Variety, “As a way to support the franchise the next logical step was to make the movie. We’d done comics and novels in the past but the opportunity to work with Universal to bring the movie to life was perfect.”

These are pre-production days for the movie and we hope to see updates coming in soon.

According to reports, Microsoft is planning big for Gears of War next week with three rumoured games to be revealed for Xbox One and Windows 10, including Gears of War 5 and maybe a Battle Royale game. Let’s see what happens to that.
