What is being called as new Avengers 4 concept art disclosed by Hero X features Thanos in his complete armor standing upright with a massive, bladed weapon in one hand and a fully restored and working Infinity Gauntlet.
Check it out below:
To see Thanos wielding a weapon is quite fascinating especially when he has a working Gauntlet at his disposal. We are tempted to think that the might of the Infinity Gauntlet makes a sword look meaningless, but, it is possible that after being used in Avengers: Infinity War, the Stone studded glove is not as powerful as it was. Also, it has been shown in the comics that Thanos became overconfident after his victory. Maybe this is him being all boastful and choosing to “do it himself” when the Avengers make the courtesy visit.
According to the Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 writers, in an earlier version of the script, the Thanos’ finger snap was to take place in the sequel.
“It wasn’t just, well, we’ve got too much story, we’d better chop it in half,” Markus revealed. “But what we realized is, it would feel more like a cliffhanger than we intended. It would be a continuation of exactly what you were watching before. [But it needed to] be as big as it wants to be, and as sprawling… [So we went with a script] that went all the way to a tragic ending. And then one where mysterious things happen that I can’t tell you about.”
The Concept art also provides us a glimpse of the new Avengers team that will feature in Avengers 4.
The writer duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely had earlier said that the heroes who didn’t get to shine in Avengers: Infinity War will be in the spotlight in Avengers 4.
“We’re never writing without knowing where the end goes,” Markus said. That means even though Captain America and Black Widow had small, situational roles in Avengers: Infinity War, they will “have a much bigger role to play in that second film.”
“We gave ourselves license to pay off later,” co-writer Stephen McFeely added.
Avengers 4 will undergo reshoots during the summer and is scheduled to release on May 3, 2019.
Avengers: Infinity War is now playing in theaters. Other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies include Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6th, Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 5th, 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020.
